Captain Michael Vontavious Batiatus

Michael Batiatus was born in raised in Capua, Italy, Earth, just an hour away from Rome. The ancient ruins that date as far back as 3,000 years have been preserved by Starfleet, including a statue in the image of Michaels ancestor, Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Batiatus.

Though the original bloodline was dedicated to playing home to the finest gladiators of the ancient days, the Batiatus line has made a major turn into a military line. Providing fine soldiers for the glory of Rome for many generations that continues from the Roman Legion, to the Italian Armed Forces, and finally to the United Federation of Planets. Michael not only continues his family line, but he does so for the glory of the Batiatus bloodline.

His ship, the U.S.S. Shagohod is a ship that he had close inspection from the early development drawings, based on the Federation's prototype Defiant class ship.

Batiatus' expertise in starship dynamics and defense was more than helpful for him once joining the 7th Fleet shortly after stepping foot on Deep Space 9. He chose to christen the ship on the station after researching the career of Captain Benjamin Sisko. He read how Sisko used the Defiant to lead a Federation armada against the Dominion invaders from the Gamma Quadrant before taking Gul Dukat with him to his death inside the Bajoran fire caves. Such valiant exploits and teamwork was more than enough for Batiatus to immerse himself into what made DS9 a conduit of power within the Federation.

Today, Batiatus leads the crew of the Shagohod into the 7th Fleet's battles with fierce speed and unrelenting force against anyone that will oppose those that threaten the very will of the Federation with blade in hand and guns at the ready.
