Captain's Log: Star Date: 2409.0125.01 (Field Training)

In the last closing hours of this Field Exercise, I have refected a great deal on the performance on my ships, equipment, crew and the choices that I have made along the way.

Issues Resolved:

1. I will remain as a Tactical Officer, and continue to captain Tactical
Escorts.

2. My development as an officer, fresh from the Academy, was ideal.
I will continue to develope my Leadership (Human), Cleaverness,
and Resilience (Selected) traits.

3. A. My personal training will focus on beam weapons, disrupters and
plasma as my primary space weapons.

B. Ground combat training will proceed along the Soldier line.
Developing strong skills in grenade combat and squad leadership
skills.

4. Bridge Officer training will be far more deliberate. All BO's will be
trained to their maximum potential in their Ensign ranked skills.
Further training will be specialized (Space / Ground) for ranks Lt
Commander and beyond.

5. Ship Naming:

I came across an issue, probably just me, with naming my ships with their custom names. Career wise, I will take the USS Bonhomme Richard as my tier V ship's name.

This will, in a RP sense, give me the appearance of having several commands, throughout my Star Fleet career from levels 1 - 50.

With less than 24 hours left in this Field Exercise, it makes me anxious for the start of my official Voyages of Ezreq Blodvaerd, Officer of the 7th Fleet - Marine Division.

Captains Log: Stardate 2409.0129.02

"Attention crew of the star ship Bomhomme Richard."

"It is my greatest honor to lead you into the unkown, as part of The 7th Fleet. There are many captains giving this same speech to their crews, but perhaps fewer will have the same pride that we hold for our fleet."

"I have attached to your personal logs, a brief history of the origin of our ship's name: USS Bonhomme Richard NCC 9-1779-A"

Quote:
The first USS Bonhomme Richard, formerly Duc de Duras, was a frigate in the Continental Navy. She was originally an East Indiaman, a merchant ship built in France for the French East India Company in 1765, for service between France and the Orient. She was placed at the disposal of John Paul Jones on 4 February 1779, by King Louis XVI of France as a result of a loan to the United States by French shipping magnate, Jacques-Donatien Le Ray.

Jones renamed her Bon Homme Richard - usually rendered in more correct French as Bonhomme Richard, to honor Benjamin Franklin, the American Commissioner at Paris whose almanac, Poor Richard's Almanac had been published in France under the title Les Maximes du Bonhomme Richard.[1]

On 19 June 1779, Bonhomme Richard sailed from Lorient accompanied by Alliance, Pallas, Vengeance, and Cerf with troop transports and merchant vessels under convoy to Bordeaux and to cruise against the British in the Bay of Biscay. Forced to return to port for repair, the squadron sailed again 14 August 1779. Going northwest around the west coast of the British Isles into the North Sea and then down the east coast the squadron took 16 merchant vessels as prizes.

On 23 September 1779, they encountered the Baltic Fleet of 41 sail under convoy of HMS Serapis (44) and Countess of Scarborough (22) near Flamborough Head. After 18:00 Bonhomme Richard engaged Serapis and a bitter engagement, the Battle of Flamborough Head, ensued during the next four hours that cost the lives of nearly half the American and British crews. At first, a British victory seemed inevitable as the more heavily armed Serapis used its superior firepower to rake Bonhomme Richard with devastating effect, killing Americans by the score. The Commanding Officer of the Serapis then called on Jones to surrender, who replied, "Sir, I have not yet begun to fight!" Jones eventually succeeded in lashing the two ships together, nullifying his opponent's greater maneuverability and attempting to take advantage of the larger size and considerably greater crew of the Bonhomme Richard. An attempt by the Americans to board Serapis was repulsed, as was an attempt by the British to board Bonhomme Richard. Finally, after another of Jones's squadron joined in the fight (uncaringly causing serious collateral damage aboard the Richard) the British captain surrendered at about 10.30pm. Bonhomme Richard, shattered, on fire, and leaking badly defied all efforts to save her and sank at 11:00 on 25 September 1779. John Paul Jones sailed the captured Serapis to the United Provinces for repairs.

"I welcome the follwing and introduce the following command staff to our ship."

Tactical Officer: Ens. Tyjhra Tala (Andorian, Female)
Engineering Officer: Ens. Myron Abram Remick (Human, Male)
Science Officer: Ens. Curre Jepina (Bajoran, Female)

"As a final note, it is a dangerous place out in the frontiers of space. The Federation and the Klingon Empire are at war. So we shall set forth into the unknown with these words on our lips, or in our minds....

"We have not yet begun to fight"

re: USS Bonhomme Richard (Decommissioned)

Captain's Log: 2409.0202.03

Serving in the 7th Fleet has been fruitful, both for the Federation and for the USS Bonhomme Richard and her crew.

During our short journey in service with the refit Miranda class cruiser, the crew and I have accomplished much in the over all war effort against the Klingon Empire.

More than just routine sector patrols or local exploration missions. The USS Bonhomme Richard, along with other ships of the 7th MD / 7th Fleet, had also successfully defended Star Base 24 from a massive Klingon invasion force.

Due to the service of her crew, the USS Bonhomme Richard, was rercognized for their service. Promotions and new duty assignments were issued. As a result of this, a new ship has been placed under my command.

The "USS Viper Strike", an Escort class star ship, has been placed in our care. Along with this new command, we have also brought on board a new bridge officer. Lt. Karbik is now our primary Tactical Officer. Official Registry of this ship shall now read:

Quote:

USS Viper Strike
NCC 9-1779-B
Ltc Escort Class

Commanding: Ezreq Blodvaerd (Human, Male / Tactical)

LT. Tactical Officer: Lt. Karbik (Klingon, Male)
ENS. Tactical Officer: Lt. Tyjhra Tala (Andorian, Female)
ENS. Engineering Officer: Lt. Myron Abram Remick (Human, Male)
ENS. Science Officer: Lt. Curre Jepina (Bajoran, Female)
ENS. Engineer Officer: Lt. Pieces of Eight (Borg, Female)
ENS. Science Officer: Ens. Poysioad (Alien, Male)

"Attention crew of the USS Viper Strike."

"As you all know, our service on the USS Viper Strike, has carried us well into our conflict against the Klingon Empire and its allies. We have also, recently, been reassigned to Star Base 39 for operations against the fractured Romulan forces."

"As per this morning's orders from Star Fleet Command, the USS Viper Strike is to report to Sol Station. We are being commissioned a new ship, a heavy escort class star ship."

"Our new ship is the USS Asp (NCC 91779 - C), and with her will come some crew changes:

* Ens. Poysioad (Science / Space) has been reassigned to another vessel.

* Ens. Pieces of Eight (Engineer - Borg / Space) who had been assigned to the USS Viper a short time ago, has been promoted to LT.

* Lt. Jepina (Science / Away team) has been promoted to LtC, and has picked up the space assignment responsibilities of Ens. Poysioad.

* Lt. Karbik (Tactical) has been promoted to LtC and remains our Chief Tactical Officer.

* Lt. Tala (Tactical) has been promoted to LtC.

* Lt. Remick (Engineering) has been promoted to LtC and remains our Chief Away Team Engineer.

Congratulations to the officers and crew of the USS Viper Strike, let us now make a name for our new ship!"

"Ms. Jepina, open a channel to Star Fleet Command...and Admiral Fortin of the 7th Fleet"

"Star Fleet Command and the 7th Fleet, this is the USS Asp, reporting for duty.......We have not yet begun to fight!"

"Attention Crew of the USS Asp."

"We have had a pretty successful tour of the Alpha Centauri region, having concluded a four-sectrol patrol series. As you also know, we have explored two new systems and we traveled to DS 9 for a quick refit for the USS Asp."

"We are putting in to Star Base 39, for a bit of R&R. This includes all Brige Officers.....and that is an order!"

"This is your Commander speaking......have a good station call."

Ezreq Blodvaerd turns his attention to the communication he has received from The 7th Fleet.

Quote:
ATTN: USS Asp, Ezreq Blodvaerd, Commanding
FRM: 7th MD, 7th Fleet, Star Fleet Command

Col. Blodvaerd,

The USS Asp and her crew have performed their duties in typical, top notch fashion. However, as you can clearly see Romulan aggression has increased in your current patrol sector.

You are to take the Asp and defend the sectors you and the rest of the fleet has fought so well to secure. Take a brief rest at SB 39, and then take the fight back out there against any Enemy Contacts you come across in your region.

Good Lucky, Ezreq

BG Stiele
7th MD, 7th Fleet

Hmmm....Four sector defense missions...what slog fest.....

Personal Log:

Our tour of duty in the Romulan sectors has been completed. Looking back, the crew of the USS Asp has performed magnificently. Looking towards the future, I have decided to requisition an additional bridge officer.

The Asp has taken a beating in the last few sector patrols, fleet actions, missions and sector defenses. With our new orders in hand, it maybe time for Star Fleet to commission a new ship.

Captain's Log:

"Attention crew of the USS Asp. I hope everyone had enjoyed their brief shore leave on Star Base 39. I have some good news for you, as well as new orders for the USS Asp. "

"First let me start by introducing a new member of our bridge staff: Ens. Truvasa Dolab will be coming aboard as our secondary science officer. We will be arriving at Sol Station to pick her up, and for me to meet with Star Fleet Command."

"I expect to be at Sol Station long enough for the USS Asp to take a trip to the Risa Colony for additional R&R. Meanwhile our orders will be finalized."

Quote:

From: Admiral T'Nae, Commanding, SB 39
To: USS Asp, Ezreq Blodvaerd, Commanding

COL. Blodvaerd,

You are to take the USS Asp and her crew to your new assignment area of Deep Space 9.

I commend you and your crew for the fine work you have done since your arrival to my star base. Although the Romulan threat is always present, and we are at war with the Klingon Empire, it is in the Cardassian regions that you and your ship are needed.

Once at Deep Space 9, you are to report to: Captain Kurland (Commander of DS 9) and Commander Adina Chales (Patrol Operations).

As a matter of fact the USS Asp has already been ordered to patrol its first Cardassian sector before your arrival to DS9.

Further details will be disclosed at our meeting at Sol Station.

Adm. T'Nae
SB 39, Commanding
Star Fleet, UFP

Captain's Log:

The USS Adder has been ordered to return to Sol Station, the message was left classified, other than the order to report we know nothing else.

We had just finished a mission into the Mirror Universe, finally defeating the True Way's plans on a Cardassian planet, and along the way fighting numerouse Jem'Hadar and Dominion squadrons. This mysterious recall to Sol Station could have something to do with any of them.

"LtC Jepina, open a channel to Star Fleet Command, Sol Station..."

[Jepina] 'Channel open Sir"

"Sol Station this is the USS Adder, we will be transwarping to your location in 30 seconds."

[Sol Station Communications Officer] "USS Adder you are cleared for arrival, and Col. Blodvaerd you are requested to report to Admiral Quinn's Office upon your arrival."

"USS Adder, affirmative....Wilco....Adder out."

My arrival to the Admiral's door was not met with a feeling of any nervousness. More of a sense of excitement, I suspected some important mission was at hand.

I enter......

[Admiral Quinn]"Rear Admiral Blodvaerd, welcome."

....A promotion!.....that is what this was about.....I was hoping for some kind of a universe altering mission....

"Sir, I'm deeply honored.....I don't know what else to say.'

[Adm. Quinn] "Oh the promotion is not the half of it, as good as that is.....You have been selected to command one of our most advanced escort class ships, the Fleet Escort class is the pinnacle of all escort class ships."

"A Tier 5 ship command is a great honor sir, thank you."

[Adm. Quinn] "Last but not least....We at Star Fleet Command have finally worked through some red tape nad we have cleared a variation of your new ships designation. She is named "USS Bonhome Richard" NCC 91797-E.

Now I'm sure you have plenty of work to do in the shipyard, personnel, requisitions, and don't forget to get yourself to the Promotion Ceremony."

"Aye, Aye, Sir"

"Captain's Log, Ezreq Blodvaerd, USS BonHome Richard."

The crew of the USS Bonhome Richard has consistantly performed their duties, above and beyond expectations. Our recent arrival to the battlefront versus the Borg has proven that fact, on many occasions.

The USS Bonhome Richard has been orderd to participate in a special task force, on a mission code named: "Infected". This task force will be assembled within the available RA 5 members of the 7th Fleet.

In the meantime, my Chief Engineer, Commander Myron Abram Remick, will be periodically released to train on his own ship. He has served me well, and will continue to remain in my mentorship.

His Captain's Logs will continue in this venue, their heading will be posted in orange highlight. All furture Captain's Logs produced by me and my own ship's exploits, will continue without the highlighted headings.

Good Lucky to Mr. Remick......

Ezreq Blodvaerd
COL, Tactical Officer
7th Marine Division, 7th Fleet
