Well, it's taken the fleet over a year to do it, but the day has come - we have, as a collective unit, filled 500 MB of gallery space. As it stands right now, you are no longer able to upload anything into the fleet gallery.
I will be going through the gallery and deleting older files. I will also likely be doing some shuffling of the categories and consolidating as much as possible so that we have a simpler, cleaner gallery.
If there is anything in there that is important to you, please make sure you save it onto your hard drive if you don't already have a copy of it.

Well, so far I have spent about 4 hours going over the gallery and removing as much as possible while trying not to break any links. It's difficult to tell what is still being used versus what images can be thrown out. It was pretty bad in there, and to some extent, it still is. Galleries like 'Forum Post Pix' and 'Website Stuff' served essentially the same function. Some people have personal galleries which contain either news and/or roleplay pictures, other galleries didn't make a lot of sense (did 'docking' really need to be a seperate gallery, for example).
I know a bit ago Lang went through a similar process with the forums - and many of the threads which are archived or were deleted have pics tied to them which could be deleted to make space - but going through every thread to figure out what is still needed versus what isn't - it's difficult to tell sometimes. I probably broke a few links. I might break some more, particularly in regards to the older style namebars. There are a ton of them in there that we are no longer actively using. And, as cool as the 'Motivational' gallery is, it could be removed as I don't think they are actually linked into any forum posts anywhere. I also followed up a bit on what Lang started and pruned about half a dozen forums and sub forums that were not being utilized, or that were simply being held for review and storage or deletion.
I apologize for any links I may have broken, particularly as it relates to the RP threads. I am doing my best to keep a careful eye on that, but a couple have slipped by me.
The goal, however, is to free up space, and try to reorganize the galleries so that they match the forums layout to some extent. Pictures for RP threads should go in the RP gallery, pictures for the Poker Team threads go in the Poker Team gallery, Art pictures are broken down by genre, Pictures for frontpage News posts should go into the Website stuff gallery (though that gallery may be renamed), etc. Each TF retains its own gallery; and I will likely roll the few remaining 'personal' galleries into those. I don't see why anyone in a 65+ man fleet needs to have a gallery to themselves - utilize your TF galleries, we're in teams for a reason - and if you really feel the need to have a gallery to yourself, do what I do and start using photobucket. It's easy to link from once you spend a few minutes fooling with it, and you don't have to worry about your stuff being deleted by some overzealous staffer like me.
Again, I apologize if I have removed anything or broken any links anyone was sorely tied to. It would be nice if we had unlimited storage space, but we don't, and room has to be made for us to continue being able to include graphics in current announcements.

After the current wave of purging:
Space Used: 426.45 mb (File Library & Image Gallery)
So I've opened a bit of wiggle room. 500 MB is the max.
Mr. Fortin, I'm going to have to get with you on vent sometime and go over the File Library, I have a feeling that a lot of that space is being used by a couple of videos that are in there.

I have gone through my file folders and cleared out about 20 images. I also removed some of the items in the 7th MD and the 7th ITS folders, that were no longer relevant or pictures of the ships I don't need.

I enjoyed them both, you should host the finished one on youtube or something and toss it in your captains log for folks to see

The gallery is largely done.
Space Used: 337.34 mb (File Library & Image Gallery)
Website stuff, Forum Post pix, and 7th Fleet have been reviewed and rolled into the Default gallery. All older style namebars have been purged. This should encourage members to come to me for new ones if they need it - the advantage of the system I have set up is that once I have created a namebar for someone, the link code never changes, even when I make changes to the graphic. So any place that they end up being used will update as well when ribbons are added or ranks are changed.
The default gallery is what it should be, now... it was hardly used at all before. Not sure where to upload your pic? Use the default gallery.
All personal galleries have been reviewed and rolled into their respective TF forums.
7MD gallery remains, rather than split it into a TF80 and TF81, I just left it as is.
Many other smaller galleries were reviewed, and pics moved or purged. New galleries have been created for the Poker Team, members Real Life pics (08-IRL), and the Biosphere gallery was merged with several other pictures used in the RP forums and renamed 'Roleplay Pictures.'
Dedication Plaques now have their own gallery, as do forum signatures.
Fleet org charts - this one was fun, they were spread out in several different places, but are now consolidated in the Fleet Org gallery, along with a few other graphics related to fleet organization.
The comments section was also purged to a small extent, St. Peter had a string of about a dozen comments that he hadn't intended to be there, so I deleted them out at his request.
I sincerely hope everyone finds this new layout much easier to use, and I hope I haven't stepped on anyones toes. I did my best to keep as much as possible, the fleet has a long history and I see no reason to throw it out to make space; but there was a lot of junk in there and a lot of duplicated pictures as well.
Thanks to Mercer, Blod, and Lang for taking some time review their pics as well.
The File library does need to be pruned, there appears to be a lot of stuff in there we could get rid of still - but that's a more sensitive area. I have purged a few things that I was 99% sure could go, but I will wait until I can get you in vent to go over it a bit more carefully.

Thank you sir.
I would like to say the gallery is officially finished. I have reviewed the TF galleries, though they were largely in order; only a couple of pictures needed to be purged.
A gallery for Task Force Patches has been created so that they can be easily referenced. Some were in their respective TF galleries, and in fact, several simply had never been uploaded. All TF's that have patches now have them displayed in the TF Patches gallery.
Will go over the File Library when an opportunity presents itself to do so.
