re: New Ventures for the 7th Fleet
by Ezreq Blodvaerd on 10/16/10 12:37
It has become clear that STO and the 7th Fleet's participation in it has fallen off in the last month or so. As I look upon this, I realized that I'm more concerned about losing the contacts / friends that I have made with the 7th Fleet, moreso then STO becoming a game that I played in my long list of former games.
I feel that the 7th Fleet, needs to branch out and become a multi-game player group. My suggestions are:
1. STO
2. Fallen Earth
3. Lord of the Rings
4. World of Tanks
5. Star Wars The Old Republic
Obviously STO is already our primary MMO. The 7th Fleet (Federation) and the House of SochDIch Yo' (Klingon Fleet).
Fallen Earth already has Myself and Cleo Mavendorf. I already have a character and a 7th Cavalry concept ready to go there. But more members are welcome to join my current clan: Iron Sights Outlaw Motorcycle Club.
Lord of the Rings (Free2P) already has the Oath Keepers.
World of Tanks (Free2P) Closed Beta http://www.worldoftanks.com/about.html has great promise!!
Star Wars TOR also is a game that many of us will likely play.

As far as my future game playing is concerned:
1. I'll continue playing STO until January (First Anniversary). If major expansion is not relased by then than I'll end subscription until the Summer or the release of 3rd faction (whichever comes first).
2. Fallen Earth is a great game, it takes a long time to reach maximum, and it has plenty of content that is not directly related to leveling. If I had known of it back in September of last year, I would have bought the Lifetime.
3. Lord of the Rings...I will return to it in the Summer, as Free2Play.
4. World of Tanks - Waiting for Beta Invite
5. SWTOR - Waiting for Beta

Im really looking forward to DC Universe Online which comes out the first of the year. I tried Fallen Earth but just couldnt get into it and still weary of Star Wars games.

re: 7th Fleet On EVE
by Ezreq Blodvaerd on 12/08/10 11:22
For those individuals looking to play EVE Online for the first time, here is a bit of advice.
First, let me put up a disclaimer, I have not played in almost a year. There are many changes since I left.
1. When starting out, your two most important attributes are Memory and Perception.
Memory helps all learning; and Perception is for combat and ship skills.
2. Spend your first 10 - 14 days training nothing but your Learning Skills.
Memory
Intelliegence
Perception
Charisma
Learning
Focus on: Memory, then Learning, then Per or INT....you won't need CHA unless you're a Corp Leader.
Get Memory to 5 and either PER or INT to 5, the rest to 4 at least.
3. Master the Ship that you are in:
Train your ships skill to 5 (4 at the least), and the weapons skills to 4 or 5.
4. Before you advance to the next ship, stay in your current (mastered) ship until your skills in your new ship are at least level 4.
A Frigate at level 5 is far superior to a Crusier at level 1-3!
5. You will not feel very effective in combat for at least 30 days. Be prepared to break off combat if need be......Death is painful in EVE, even against NPCs.
6. Run throught the entire tutorial, at last time I did them they were about 17 missions.
7. Remember that training is done in real time. Make sure your training que is full so you won't lose any time.
8. Beware....EVE can take over your life!!!!

Sorry, a quick adendum to this.....
Learning Skills have two tiers: Basic and Advanced. Once you get a Basic Skill to level 4, you can begin to train the advanced. I wrote above, in error, to train your skills to 5. Here is the correction:
Train the skill(s) to 4, then train the Advanced skill to 3. Here is the reason:
If I train my Basic Memory to 5, it will take me about 8 days for the +5 bonus.
If I train my Basic Memory to 4, and then train my Advanced Memory to 3, I will get a +7 in the same 8 days.
Remember to train up your main Learning skills early on. They will speed up your skill training for all other skills.
You will also want to train Science skill and Cybernetics to the point that you can use up to +2 implants.
Your first few weeks in this game is all about setting up your next 6 months!

I did read somewhere that the next major installement (patch) will be on dec 14.
I will not resub my EVE account until it is known if the 7th Fleet will create a corporation there, and that it will be fairly active.
Currently I have all other MMOs on hold, so I can dedicate my time with the 7th Fleet here in STO.

As for myself, I am mainly playing STO Klingon side.
The only other MMO I casuallly play is WoW and I can get anyone an invite into a mature, casual and raiding guild if they would like.
