Cash has no national loyalty.
I said once before - as long as the buyer is willing to invest in Cryptic's R&D when it comes to things like NWN, the Foundry, etc; it will be a good thing. If it keeps Cryptic alive, then we win.
I don't foresee many actual in game changes, regardless of who is buying Cryptic. CBS still drives the ship, PerfectWorld is just paying for the gas. We'll see what happens, but I don't think this will negatively impact the title - and it would certainly be better than Atari holding on to Cryptic when they clearly don't want to put any more money into developing it further.

I, for one, want to be the first to welcome our new Chinese overlords...
If it makes you feel any better, the Red shirts always do have a significantly higher casualty rate.

I just hope it doesn't adversely affect the development and release of Neverwinter; I also hope Cryptic doesn't screw the pooch on that IP.

Grand total of 50,316,000 US dollars was given to Atari to get it. I just hope they do a good job in helping Cryptic Studios make Star Trek all kinds of WIN.
Hold up guys. Before we start trashing them. It should be noted that their company name is also their main game title they support. I did some research they have been around since 2004. Which is why I haven't heard of them. They are some what new.
Oh though it seems to be a Chinese firm they seem to be international as well.
They have a office in the States in. (Setup in 2008)
Foster City, California, US
Likely a foothold on setup to get into US market. Even Mr. Michael Yufeng Chi - Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer said, "This strategic acquisition will add attractive game titles to our portfolio, which will help us further penetrate into the U.S." Hint, Hint...........
They have 12 games in China, 10 International, 5 in the US. They are busy bees. I personally think they will work hard to keep Star Trek Online going seeing that this Title might get them International attention. If they fail then their company will take a big hit Internationally and in the Stock market as well.

I think Cryptics reputation is more that they have shitty releases, than that they make shitty games.

Now there may be some that believe this will only apply to Champions Online, but honestly STO can't expect to keep htis dual pay system running and keep any sort of player base.
Their current development cycle is just too slow and a majority of the useful items are being rolled out on the C-Store anyway.
