I'm leaning toward MACO... I think I like the set bonus a bit better. And the rifle will fit my gameplay more, I think.
Still, there's so little information out there on these sets right now. It's hard to know what's best.
BTW, each of the ground sets requires getting multiple iterations of (MK XI, MK XII, etc.) before all the costumes will unlock. I found this on the STO forums...

Looks like - for MACO at least - you don't get the helmet until you get the MK XII set. Given that you're completely at the mercy of drops (on elite) for that, I'm not sure how long it will take to complete an entire set.

Huck an I were talking about this earlier this morning.
The Omega armor is basically Integrated Targeting Armor, and the MACO armor is essentially Pollyalloy Weave. They just both have an extra Plasma Resist variable on them.

I think I'm going to use Omega on my Tac because of the 10% energy buff the shield gives, gotta love all that damage .

It looks bulky, but it works pretty well. Saw it in action tonight. Very nice...

I didn't notice the MACO rifle requiring as many remodulations as the Omega. Both weapons are super-cool looking and sounding when they fire. Ive asked owners of each if they liked them, and (of course) they love them. Its hard to tell how these things will work with the remodulation bonus that both gear sets grant. Or even if that remodulation bonus is good...
I wish Cryptic would put out information on these sets. I'll be ready to get one of the Mk XI sets today but can't make up my mind. Today, I'm leaning toward grinding out the additional 60 EDC to get both Omega sets. The damage bonus in the Mk XI set looks maybe better than the defense bonus in the same level MACO set.

Why would u have to get both Omega sets?

That's a good question. The only information Cryptic has put out seems to suggest that different parts of the costume unlock when you purchase the different level sets. I've seen people running around with the MK X Omega costume. It's basically the undergarments portion of the costume. Now, the big question I have is what would happen if I purchase the Mk XI set without having the MK X set? Will it retroactively grant me the "undergarments" portion of the costume? Or just the armor/helmet? Given the lack of information, I probably won't know until I try it.
As for grinding, I've stayed a million miles away from any Elite missions. They're time killers. Stick to a rotation of four normal STFs... Cure Space, Infected Space, KA Space and then finish up with Infected Ground. It's the only one of the ground STFs that can quickly and reliably be completed by PUGs. By the time you wrap up Infected Ground, you should be close to the cool down timer expiring on Cure Space.
Wash, rinse, repeat. Ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

Well, I made it through the grind! I decided to go with the MK XI Omega ground gear. I put a picture in the gallery of the costume unlock that comes with it.
