Last night in EVE Online, three Titans, the largest ship type, were destroyed in a single massive fight.

Each hull plus installed equipment and cargo was worth approximately 72 billion ISK (the in-game currency). A Pilot's License EXtension (30-day sub) can be purchased for about 500 million ISK; a PLEX costs $15.00. So, those three ships alone were worth just under $6,200. Pretty staggering to think about.

No, I didn't get to participate. The Time Dilation (TiDi) was reportedly as high as 70%; that's to help ensure lag doesn't prevent players from being able to fire weapons, activate modules, etc.

I sort of want to start playing again, what with the new missiles and missile turrets coming out. mmmm, missile turrets.

They have some really interesting ideas for ship rebalancing/re-purposing. Instead of having tiers, and certain ships being the stand-out, obvious "best" hull, all-around, they want each hull to have a role.

I used to play a long time back. Your topic brought back some memories. As I was trying to explain the real money involved to my girlfriend, I needed to look up references of a Titan on youtube.
