I have friend is going to start playing sto, and he wants to know what kind of recruits we are looking for, and would like to know some character creation pointers, but isn't sure what type of character to create. He wants to be a good fit for the fleet.

A good fit for the fleet is a role he is comfortable with and enjoys playing. Nothing more sure to burn a player out than trying to fit a role a guild "Needs" filled. Tell him to roll up whatever he thinks he'd like and give it a spin! We're not about forcing anyone into a role here...it's about comraderie and having fun playing a game we love!

Thanks for the quick response, I'll tell him. Any tips on character creation? I went the easy/cliche way and created a Vulcan science officer, so I'm not the best with advice.
