re: Klingon Appreciation Month

Dust off your KDF equipment or requisition some new Imperial Issue, because it will soon be Klingon Appreciation Month.  We have a whole bunch of adventures planned for you including:

  • Two Fleet activity weekends with a KDF theme
  • Two weeknights a week with KDF themed activities
  • These include some new things we have not done before as a Fleet

We have tailored KAM so that you can participate even if you've never played STO as a KDF faction member before.  The second Fleet weekend of the month will be episode reruns from the KDF campaigns, so you will have at least three weeks to get your toons up to snuff.  To fully participate in the third weekend activities, you'll need to level up to 29th, and complete the following mission chains [campaigns]:

  • For Klingons and Romulans, you need to complete the Wasteland campaign.
  • For Klingons, you will also need to get into the Romulan Mystery campaign, and get up at least as far as the Coliseum mission, at level 28.
  • For Romulans, you will also need to get into the Freedom campaign, and also be issued the Coliseum mission at level 28.

Both faction elements will need to be level 29 to adventure along with us in the following mission.  Recommendation: try to get to level 35, because it may open up some other venues we may want to go marauding in as a group.

If the Fleet Admiralty approves Klingon Appreciation Month for the month of February, you'll have until the third weekend to get ready for this.  Other activities you should be able to participate in after a session or two of play.  Just try to get all the tutorial missions done.  This is your heads-up: get ready for an official announcement, coming soon!

This is going to be an excellent series of events for the 7th ITS.  The fleet leadership will be present on their KDF characters and recommend each of you do the same because it is a great deal of fun!

That being said, if you have never rolled a KDF character, I recommend you do so before these events therefore you won't miss out on participating with your fellow fleet mates.

Thank you Mr. Murphy!  I highly recommend this to all that are still on the fence about the KDF side of STO.

Sounds like some great events.  I'll be on travel for half of the month and will try to participate if the hotel's bandwidth limitations allow.

On the KDF side, the Duty Officer missions are a lot more fun, too.

Doubly-so for Romulan KDF players.  Just leave New Romulas space and you will have three to five marauding missions waiting for you.  A full brig makes any KDF Captain a happy camper.  Many has asked what is the real difference between playing Federation vice Klingon.  Hard to explain in words, but I have attached a short video that best defines the primary difference between the two factions.  The KDF faction shows up around the 1:12 mark.  So grab your favorite brand of Bloodwine and enjoy!

haha nicely done Smaug.  I love the atmosphere on the Klingon side and I would play my KDF a lot more then Fed, but times when I get to play most seems KDF side queues are dead so it tends to turn me away.
