Kinda pissed at Traits

Anyone else kinda pissed at how the starship traits have those bright, in your face visuals?  I'm finding the urge to take all the traits off my ship, just so I can see my ship again.  With everything buffed and piloting around I get a constant bright glow of some kind thrown in my face that hides the beauty of my ship and I can't stand it.  I miss the days before traits when it was just your ship and the occasionally blip of a glow from an ability to give a you quick reference knowing it activated.  To be honest, didn't care for it but it was fine and wasn't a gripe worth mentioning.  I really wish they would allow an option to disable all the stupid, in your face visuals to where it was just your ship, weapons firing, and shield effects.

Just seems like they are catering to the annoying gamer types who are about flash and "gear status" instead of giving us something that Star Trek fans would enjoy.  The more they add, seems the less I feel like playing and start looking toward other things to play like Star Wars with solid story telling.

I agree completely, a simple disable visuals feature like some of the sets have is all it would take.

As far as Star Wars goes, 5 or 6 of us have recently gotten back into it lately.  If you haven't seen the new expansion they have coming out in October you should definitely check it out.  It looks like they're going with more high quality storytelling instead of just more MMO style content.

 

If you're a subscriber right now, you get 12X XP on all of your class missions, so you can enjoy the story without as much of the MMO style grind...having a blast with it.

Yea I noticed some had been playing and about the XP boost.  Between that and the new expansion tease, it's what got me thinking about it.  I've still got it downloaded and had leveled up a Jedi Guardian to 20.  But if I do commit to it, probably get a Trooper leveled up.  That and maybe a Bounty Hunter, which I loved how it played just didn't like being on the Sith side.

I still love STO.  But I miss the immersion feeling I got when I first started.  Before cross faction ships, stupid fancy visuals, and everything else just breaks the immersion for me.  I just wish it was more of an RPG then an MMO.

I'll probably drop some for a sub, but might not be soon.  I'm still trying to get Witcher 3 beat, then the new Batman comes out, and I still pop on with a few friends in Destiny on my X1.
