Actually, I'd rather see just about any other developer than either Blizzard or BioWare....Much rather see CCP or Bethesda.

Blizzard would be fine by me; they at least know how to code a game and get people to play it.

Hopefully not Sony or EA. EA isn't so bad but they have a bad history like Sony does, just not as worse.

If by 'code' you mean add in some of the worst game mechanics ever put into an MMO, then yes, they can code.
I would be surprised if Blizzard picked up Cryptic. They're the greatest gaming company ever, just ask them; I can't see them lowering themselves to take over games they didn't have a hand in designing.
NC Soft? It would beat SOE in my book, as much as I dislike Blizzard, SOE might be worse. Unless of course, I want my account and personal info to get brute force hacked by black hats. It's a toss up as to whose customer service and community representatives are shittier, Blizzards or SOE's.
Maybe will Funcom will buy it, wouldn't that be hilarious.

You meant, FailCom.....
Bottomline, there are positives and negatives for just about any of the developers that have been listed so far.
Blizzard....They don't add new content, just new "colored" items to grind for.
SOE......The Doomsday Device....Look how they fucked up SWG.
EA.....Ended Earth and Beyond because it was "not profitable enough." I guess making money isn't good enough.
FUNCOM.....Their upper mamnage meant / project director choices have always been questionable....Godger Gaute, need I say more?
NCSoft......They have the habit of making a good MMO and passing it off.
CCP......I doubt they could handle the IP of Star Trek, and would probably alienate ST fanbois with combat that is too gritty.
Flying Labs....They did an OK job with Pirates of Burning Sea, but it takes them a long.....long time to develope anything. Oddly enough, the combat in STO was based on Pirates of the Burning Sea, according to a Cryptic Dev back during Beta.
BIOWARE...Can't do it....not with Lucas Arts and BW making SWTOR.
I personally would like to see a company like Bethesda (Bethsoft) pick it up. They have never made an MMO, but they have consistantly made RP Games of the Year (Elder Scrolls series and Fallout).

Whether or not you like those mechanics is not the point; their mechanics at least work. Blizzard also has the teams to develop content. If STO was a Blizzard product, the KDF wouldn't be half-assed like it is currently.

It will absolutely be the point, if they put in a bunch of bosses that are immune to all my skills, add resistance type cockblock fights to every STF, one shot kill 'spells' to major bosses, etc. I love nothing better than being given really cool skills and really great gear that all becomes absolutely fucking meaningless the second you step foot in a dungeon.
And ya, KDF, would get fleshed out, and pvp would turn into the biggest gear dependant unbalanced piece of shit imaginable.
RAWR
*hugs*

I see your points. To be fair, PvP is currently impacted by your gear, though not as much as it would be if Blizzard took over.

remember, most of these developers are just that, the people Developing their own games... if they bought cryptic, its not like they would fire all the cryptic people and start re-coding the game. They might force cryptic to do some things different, but the License with CBS still stands, they cant do what they dont want.
And just because Bioware is doing a Star Wars game doesn't mean any game from them is bad, or they cant do STO because it "conflicts"
Imo, the best i would hope for would be Blizzard or Bioware. But as it stands, i don't see that happening, each developer is owned by someone else. I can see Activision buying them...

If Jack Emmert and Zinc are as smart as I think they are, they are working a deal with CBS to go on their own. They have a solid customer base, a hi-value IP, and CBS has the pocketbook to make it happen. I don't know much about the back-end of the gaming industry, but it seems like they could streamline a lot and make shit tons of money and honor the IP all at the same time.

Ya, I thought about that too. That would probably be the best thing for the title, but who knows how keen CBS is on getting into the online gaming industry.
