The song came over the radio a couple of nights ago while I was driving Sin around to grab some dinner. She says, 'I really like this song, but I don't know the name of it.'
I reminded her she has a cell phone that is practically the embodiment of the future I was promised growing up; and that we both had an application on it that would listen to any piece of music for about 10 seconds and tell you every possible piece of information about it.
And, maybe I'm six months to a year behind. Maybe this song is completely played out where you live - but you have to remember I live in New Mexico. We get our mail via pony express, assuming the riders can get past the indian raiders. It's not exactly a trendy state.
So we get the info, I pull up Frostwire on my PC when we get home, and I download it and listen to it, and it just got stuck in my head. Sort of like those mind control things Khan put inside Checkov's brain; it's just in there, and it won't go away - and the more I listen to it, the more I start visualizing footage and mentally laying out cuts for a video.
Point of fact; this exactly how the actual recruiting video came about. I got a piece of music from Inception stuck up in my brain, and potential scenes from STO and the Fleet started filling in the music. That project took several months because I had to shoot all the footage from scratch; but in this case most of what I needed I already had. I just took some of my favorite shots from other videos and combined them with shots I had done for the original recruiting video but hadn't actually used.
I did this one in a day - mostly because I had to. It's like this with the ship patches sometimes; once I get the idea up there it will just dominate my thoughts until I can get it out.
Anyway, of course I thought I'd share with it you guys... I hope everyone enjoys it as much I enjoyed putting it together.

Nice work, as always, Shack. Funny thing, the first time I heard the song, as suggested by a friend, I thought ti was okay. Now watching the video with the song playing behind it - makes me like it so much more.
It's much like the various "MechWarrior" computer game cutscenes spliced together to the tune of Linkin Park's "In the End."

That's a great video! I'd be willing to bet that STO would use that as a promo video.
