New STF Stuff from Gozer

Check out what Gozer has done with STFs...

wasn't going to spoil the surprise yet.. but .....

I've already worked "much" of this core idea into new Title, Accolade, Gear and Costume unlocks from running the revamped STF's.

Here is the short version...

Captain D'Vak (the Starfleet Klingon who used to give out the STF missions) has been promoted. He is now Admiral D'Vak.

To combat the increased Borg activity (and future shared threats), both Starfleet Command and the KDF has agreed to form a special unit that will be placed under his command.

This unit is operated outside the normal channels with the full cooperation of both governments. Both Starfleet and the KDF have agreed to channel resources (both personnel and equipment) to the joint operation.

Although both parties are still at war, neither government can afford to ignore threats like the Borg. Any Starfleet or KDF personnel that volunteer to serve in this special unit, agree to leave their personal differences on their home world and fight for the greater cause.

Admiral D'Vak has split up the unit into two divisions (think Delta Force and Navy Seals). Individual teams will be comprised of personnel from both divisions, however each division will maintain their own name and individual rank structure.

All Starfleet personnel belong to the Elite Task Force division.
All KDF personnel belong to the Honor Guard division.

Each division has it's own internal rank structure, unique look, unique equipment and unique perks (associated with division rank and or accolades). There are also shared looks, equipment, and perks that both divisions have access to, however these shared items are unavailable to standard KDF or Starfleet personnel.

These new divisions come together under Admiral D'Vak's Command, to form the joint "Special Forces" branch for both organizations.

All of this will be introduced with the revamped STF's. I hope you guys really like it, I've worked pretty hard to put it together for you.... Oh and one last note... While it is true that the MACO's are no longer a special forces unit within Starfleet, you will notice an all too familiar "shark" is part of the Starfleet Elite Task Force Division patch, which shows up on the Elite Task Force Gear

A few quick answers about these before speculation runs wild

These are New costume "unlock" rewards (I won't go into how to unlock them at the moment). Once you unlock them you can use them on your character. They will not require you to have a specific item equipped in order to use them.

They will not be available on the cstore. The unlocks are end game rewards. The only way to acquire them will be participation in the STF's.

There are versions you can fully customize (color, tint, helmet, no helmet, etc) , and versions that have a locked appearance.

One last thing... this is just the tip of the iceberg... these are just one of many new things coming to STO End Game... we haven't even started talking about the ship stuff yet...(grin)

You'll be getting much more info about all of this over the next few weeks as we prepare for the launch of STO Free to Play...
