"Excelsior" movie announced

For those that don't do Facebook or follow George Takei on Facebook, some very interesting news:

"Friends, I'm thrilled to share this news with you today. As announced at Emerald City Comicon, where I'm appearing this weekend, Paramount Pictures has green-lit a new Star Trek Movie entitled "Excelsior" in which I will play the captain. This announcement is part of Paramount Studio's 100th-year anniversary campaign. The studio has acknowledged the fan enthusiasm for this concept ever since I appeared in command of the vessel in "The Undiscovered Country." J.J. Abrams will direct, with Robert Orci again writing the screenplay.

My co-star in Allegiance, Paulo Montalban, has been cast opposite me to play the mercurial "Agha," the grandson of Khan (played by Ricardo Montalban in the Second Star Trek Movie). Also featured are Gilbert Gottfried (playing a wily Ferengi First Officer) and Lisa Lampanelli (as a Bajoran security officer).

George back as Sulu and in command of the Excelsior? Hell, yes!

With this announcement coming on April's Fools Day and from the biggest jokester of the Star Trek pantheon, I'm reserving my enthusiasm for a more solid confirmation. However, if true... warp speed!!!

Having been in the movie "Super 8*, I thought JJ Abrams a nice guy and on top of his scenes when directing, however I don't feel he completely grasps the world of Star Trek. I would like to see someone other than him direct this movie if it materializes.

I'm not crazy about Lampanelli and can do without her. LOL

You what's sad? This new Oddy is replacing the Excelsior in game. Yea its 200+ years old, but it's just sad. You don't see them around like you use to. I dusted off mine recently.
